Back seat occupants will now be able to make use of this highly useful features in the regular variants of the Safari as well.
Tata has updated the Safari and it now gets ventilated seats in the second row, on the top-spec XZ+ and XZA+ variants. However, this feature will only be available with the captain seats on the 6-seater version of the Safari.
While the regular Safari gets ventilated seats for the first time, it is not a new feature for the Safari. Previously, the Gold edition Safari got this feature and most recently, even the Dark edition of the Safari got this. What’s surprising is that Tata is not demanding any extra premium for this. The ventilated seats for the rear passengers can be activated by pressing a button on the outside corner of the seats.
The Safari is Tata’s flagship and as such gets top-of-the-line features. You get an 8.8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity, a 9-speaker premium sound system by JBL with a subwoofer and amplifier, 18-inch machine-finished alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, drive modes, sand a powered driver’s seat, to name a few features.
On the safety front, Tata offers the Safari with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, Traction Control, Roll Over Mitigation, Corner Stability Control, Brake Disc Wiping, ABS with EBD, disc brakes on all wheels, a tyre pressure monitoring system, Terrain response modes – Normal, Rough and Wet, Hill Descent Control, ISOFIX mounting points for child seat and an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold.
As far as the engine is concerned, you get the same 2.0-litre diesel unit that is found in the Harrier, which makes 168bhp and 350Nm. It can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The latter has been sourced from Hyundai.
The Safari then rivals the likes of Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, the Hyundai Alcazar and the upcoming Kia Carens. It is priced between Rs 14.99 lakh and Rs 23.30 lakh (both ex-showroom).
