With the introduction of the Volkswagen Virtus, it seems more and more likely that Volkswagen aims to phase out its already present mid-sized sedan offering, the Volkswagen Vento. Further steps taken by Volkswagen are making it more likely for this to be the case. Read on for more information on the outgoing Volkswagen Vento and the incoming Volkswagen Virtus.
Volkswagen Vento Heading Out
German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has taken steps leading us to believe that the Vento is truly on its way out. In light of Volkswagen Virtus's upcoming launch in March 2022, the brand has now taken down certain variants of the Vento from its website, stocks and dealership network. This doesn't come as a shock, as it was earlier speculated that the upcoming Virtus aims to succeed and replace the now ageing Vento.
The Volkswagen Vento variants originally consisted of the Comfortline (MT only), Highline (MT/AT) and Highline Plus (MT/AT) variants. As per Volkswagen's website, the base Comfortline MT and the Highline Plus MT have become the first Vento variants to hit the chopping block. While the top end and base manual transmission versions of the Vento have been removed off the website, the middle Highline variant continues to retain its manual and automatic transmissions, so far at least. This means that currently, the Vento is available in Highline MT and AT, and Highline Plus AT variants only. While this is the case, Volkswagen hasn't made any official announcements regarding the same.
Volkswagen Vento's Special Matte Edition Continues... For Now
Besides the Volkswagen Vento's Highline MT, Highline AT and Highline Plus AT variant options, it seems that the Vento's Matt Editions continue for now as well. The Matt Edition Vento is offered in Highline AT and Highline Plus AT trims only.
Currently, Volkswagen Vento's available stocks in India are 2021 variants only and there haven't been any 2022 variants made available, leading us to further cement the belief of the Vento's upcoming discontinuation.
Grab a Vento or Get Ready for the Virtus
As per dealership information, the remaining Vento stocks in dealerships across India are being sold at rather hefty discounts. Considering the Vento has been still garnering a steady stream of orders and bookings, it should make it fairly easy for Volkswagen to sell out its remaining Vento cars. With some dealerships, customers can actually transfer their Vento bookings to the Virtus as well. Volkswagen Vento's 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine also does duties in the Taigun SUV and will be powering the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus as well.
